You can sleep once you are dead

Miriam had no knife, and as Proteus was gone she could not borrow his. However, looking down on the unfinished devil's trap she knew she would have to draw blood to finish it. Still frustrated and aggrivated she picked up a sharp piece of the wooden rubble and shoved it into her lower arm. Biting her lower lip she could still not help but let a pained cry escape her lips, and as she pulled the rubble out of her arm, more tears fell down her cheek, landing on her lap. She was so tired of it all, even as she forced herself to keep doing this, she had turned the world out, not focusing on it at all. She felt more machine than human in that moment, and as long as the pain was ignored for a short moment she did not mind. It was what she wanted.
She let the blood drip down her arm and onto her hand before she started on the devil's trap again. As she heard screams coming from the entrance wing, she ignored it, though with every scream her chest ached with sympathetic pain. There was nothing she could do, and it was all for themselves now. If she were to leave she would only get herself killed and not be of any help. She did not even have a knife or an exorcism spell.
Once finished, she leaned back against a corner in the shadows, knowing no one would be able to see her there unless already walked into the trap which was now covered in rubbles. It was impossible to glimpse the trap underneath it. No one would be stupid enough to walk into an exposed trap.
The screams continued and she closed her eyes in an attempt to drown them out, but couldn't. And once her eyes were closed, she could not get herself to open them again. The lack of sleep and bloodloss overcame her, and before she could think to shake herself awake she was already sleeping soundly.

Azazel walked into the sanctuary after Thomas and Aurora had run away. He was kicking rubble out of his way when suddenly he felt he couldn't move. He looked down, wiping some rubble away with his foot to reveal a trap. He smirked. "Clever... much more so than the blonde did." He started to look around for the hunter who would probably have made the trap. He saw a figure sleeping in the corner. He whisteled and tried to get their attention, but nothing. He then bent to pick a small rock, about the size of his fist, and threw it towards the figure.

Miriam was rudely awoken by a stone hitting her still hurting arm. It had stopped bleeding, but the whole arm was slightly numb and horribly painful. Panicked she quickly looked around to look into the yellow eyes of the demon who had attacked her. She was sure she was about to die. She never should have fallen asleep, and that would be her final mistake.
However, as soon as she calmed down she could see he had walked straight into the trap, and a smug smile played on her lips. She could not exorcise him, but having him trapped still meant he could not kill or hurt her.
Her heart ached as she recognized the demon as the one who had probably killed Thomas. Though the kid was annoying, she had liked him far more than the others. She might not have shown it, but Thomas' bravery was something to respect and look up to. He was not nearly as annoying as Proteus either. Knowing he was probably dead stung, and her smile quickly disappeared as she stood up.
"Should've let me sleep," she muttered angrily. "That way I wouldn't be able to hurt you."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "You can sleep when you're dead. Now let me out." He looked straight at her, not a single muscle moving on his face.

"Why would I do that?" she asked seemingly uninterested and unfocused on the conversation as she dug out her waterbottle and a bag of salt.
The demon seemed overly confident for one in his position, and he could not possibly know she did not have an exorcism spell. He should have been scared to return to Hell instead of chatting with her. And to prove her point she put the waterbottle down on the floor, opening the lid and pouring the salt into the water, knowing that if this was to hit his skin it would burn like acid and then some.

He stayed silent, watching her movements. His eyes narrowed slightly when she poured the salt into the water. "One time only offer. I will let you walk out alive."

"Don't make me laugh, you're powerless," she said, but made no signs of laughing. She was far too tired, and even her voice sounded robotic as she spoke to him. For once she suddenly found herself missing Proteus, and the couch in the sitting room, and the way he would sit with her while she slept, protecting her. Though she was too stubborn to admit, it had felt nice to feel safe and taken care of for once.

He tilted his head slightly to the left. "You are hurt, and I see nothing more on you than that bottle of holysaltwater. So, either you have no idea how to perform a excorcism spell or you don't have one." He smirked. "You look much braver than the blonde girl from earlier, if you had one you wouldn't be scared to use it. Am I right?"

For once she smirked remembering how she had stabbed Rin without hesitation. And this demon she didn't even care about. Nothing would stop her from exorcising him if she had only had her spell. She could still have some fun with him however.
Putting the lid back on the bottle she took it in her hands as she stood up, shaking it to mix the salt better with the water.
"If I had one, you'd be gone already," she stated threateningly as she stared into his deep, yellow eyes, feeling a shiver run up her spine, but she would not tell him. After everything she was simply not scared of him, specially not in the position he found himself in now.

He looked at the bottle she was shaking, then back up at her eyes. "So what do you want missy?" He asked arching his eyebrow at her.

"To bring you pain," she shrugged and opened the lid again, ready to throw it at him. She raised an eyebrow as if to ask him if he was done talking, which she hoped he was. In either case, she found him annoying, and would be more than happy to splash him.

He smirked at her. When he saw her remove the lid from the bottle he opened his mouth again. "There must be something more that you want." He squinted a bit. "There is always more. Name your price."

She smirked, actually laughing for once, enjoying his fear far too much to end it just yet. Gently, she poured some water into the bottle cap before throwing it at him, hitting him in the face. It must have burned with the power of the sun, and she smirked seeing it hit him.
By only hitting him with this little she still had just about the whole bottle left, and she could keep this up for hours.
"There's nothing you can give me," she told him, and it was true. He had nothing on him, and she could not trust him enough to let him go to get her something. A high ranked demon would never help a human, even if Rin had been pathetic enough to do so.

He flinched as he saw the water come towards him, and hissed as it hit his face. He wiped it away quickly. He looked back at her. "You sure about that? Once you run out of that water what are you going to do then huh?"

"Leave you?" she shrugged again, pouring more water into the lid.
"Besides, that won't happen for a loooong time, so don't grieve your sorrows too early," she smiled wickedly.
The demon was a fearsome one, and she could clearly tell he was high ranked, not only from his unusual eyecoloring. However, as he flinched and hissed she was reminded she was in control, and clearly all the power he had over her was amusing and annoying her.

He smirked amused. "So, you are going to keep doing that the whole time?" He laughed. "You sure are kinky."

"Oh, if you only knew.." she laughed, but the guilt and truth in his words stung as she remembered Rin.
In annoyance she threw the water in the lid at him to shut him up. This was a game she wasn't willing to play.

He used his arms to cover his face, allowing less water to touch his skin. "So you like dominating men huh? What happened? Did your daddy let you down?"

"Aawww, if you're going to try to push my buttons, at least find them first," she said, mocking how far away from the truth he was. She had never even had a dad, and she hadn't missed one either. Her father was the least of her problems, and she couldn't help but smile mockingly as she poured another lid of salted holy water.

He grinned. "So it is your dad! Huh, what was he like? Was he even around?" His grinn grew wider as he was feeding from her reactions.

"Good try, but no," she smiled unphased as she threw some more water on him. Still she had most of her bottle left, and she could keep this going for much longer. She had a feeling he was only talking to her to try to get her to change her mind, walk away, or at least stop torturing him, but so far he had not given her any good reason to do so. She would never release a demon unless she gained from it, like the time she had freed Rin for a weapon. She told herself that was the only reason she had ever freed Rin, though she knew better than to believe it herself.

He used his arms to shield his face again. He decided to switch tactics, seeing as his search for sore spots wasn't getting anywhere. "So, demon huntress, how many demons have you met here? I know dear old Rin is one of them."

Her eyes snapped to the demon as soon as he mentioned Rin, but calmed herself by knowing he had seen Rin chasing her. He couldn't possibly know anything more than that, and as she calmed herself again, she decided to answer him, thinking a little bit about the answer.
"There's you, Cali, Calcifer, ehh... the blonde bitch with anger problems, and the big one I exorcised a couple of days ago," she said smirking, he probably hadn't expected that many. "And then I know about Alastair and Lillith," she said and shrugged. Though she hadn't met them yet, she thought it would be impressive the amount of information she had managed to gather on her own.

He smirked, he could turn this around maybe. "Oh, so you haven't met the two strongest yet." He looked at the water bottle amused. "And you are going to fight them with just holy water?" He pointed at the bottle like it was the saddest thing he had ever seen. He gave her a pittying look.
